The Cherokee County School System is locate in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Cherokee County Public Schools - The America's Best High Schools' Report issued by U.S. News and Word Report has named Murphy High School a Silver Medal School and Hiwassee Dam High School a Bronze Medal School! Murphy High School is one of six (6) high schools in North Carolina to achieve this honor, and one of 405 in the nation, placing them in the top 3 % of 18,790 high schools in the nation. Hiwassee Dam is one 28 schools in North Carolina to receive the Bronze Medal rating and one of 1,087 in the nation, in the top 12

The Clay County School System is located in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. It is a small, rural school system of approximately 1,250 students. There are three schools in the county located on a single campus. Hayesville Elementary is a K-4 school of approximately 450 students. Hayesville Middle School is a 5-8 school with approximately 400 students and Hayesville High School is a 9-12 school with approximately 400 students.
The Union County School System is located in the beautiful North Georgia mountains in the upper NE corner of the state. The Union County School System consists of the following six schools:
